Description

Park Tool’s VC-1 is a simple tool designed for the installation and removal of Schrader and Presta valve cores along with most valve extenders.

While there is a lot of brands offering valve core tools these days, Park's offering is the only one I've seen last for years and years in professional bike shops without falling to pieces.

The VC-1 features 3 different drives, which are compatible with:

  • Schrader Valve Cores
  • Presta Valve Cores (if you have a tube, make sure it has a removable core!)
  • Presta Valve Extenders with 5 mm drives

Looking back 5 or 10 years, valve core replacement wasn't a very common thing. Valves were just for air and tubes were easy to replace. These days however, a lot of tubeless sealant brands recommend removing the core to inject sealant through the valve, especially on road tubeless where it is nearly impossible to pop the bead to add sealant without making an absolute mess. Plus, once the sealant is in there, it loves to clog valve cores up, and with tubeless valves only getting more expensive by the day, it's great to see valve core replacement is becoming more and more commonplace.

The VC-1 is precision CNC machined from a single piece of aluminium before being anodised in Park’s Classic Blue for added durability and corrosion protection.
