Unior Hub Genie

Unior’s Hub Genie is a unique tool that allows you to easily remove stubborn hub end caps without risking any damage to soft aluminium and delicate anodised coatings.

"Tool-less" end caps are now used by nearly every bicycle hub brand. While they allow for easy maintenance on brand new bikes, they often seize onto the bearing if you don't stay on top of your maintenance. Whether you need to remove the end caps for access to the bearings for servicing, or you are converting to different axle standards, a stuck end cap can cause a lot of grief.

Due to the tool-less design, there is no easy and risk free way to apply more leverage to free the end cap with traditional tools. While you can clamp the end cap in a vise, it is often hard to get a good grip on the round shape and slippery anodised finishes certainly don't make things any easier. If the vise isn't tight enough you risk the end cap slipping and taking a nice chunk out of the anodised coating, and if the vise is over tightened even the slightest amount you risk deforming the end cap out of round.

The Hub Genie solves these problems by functioning like a blind hole bearing puller. After inserting the tool into the end cap, all you need to do it rotating the handle to expand the wedged sleeve inside the end cap, until it's tight and securely attached to the inside of the end cap. You can then give the handle a light tug to effortlessly release the end cap from the hub. Not a single second wasted worrying about damaging the end cap!

The Hub Genie is available in two sizes:

• Small - suitable for front and rear 12 mm & 15 mm thru axle hubs
• Large - suitable for front 20 mm thru axle hubs.

Unior do not currently make a Hub Genie for Quick Release (QR) Hubs.
